Surfing Lessons

Have you ever wanted to learn to surf?  Well wait no more, the staff at KannonBeach are ready to teach you the exciting sport of surfing!  Here at kannonbeach we have been teaching for over a decade! All of our instructors are qualified up to the level required by the Department of Natural Resources; including CPR, lifesaving (Bronze Cross, Bronze Medallion) certifications.   When you get a lesson with Kannonbeach, you can rest assured that your instructors are experienced wave riders and qualified lifesavers.

 Lessons usually last around one hour and include dryland and ocean training.  During your lesson you will learn all the basics (depending on surfing/ocean experience) of ocean knowledge and wave riding.  You will be well informed of the hazards in the ocean and how to safely avoid/minimize risk.  

During dryland training all safety aspects will be explained and basic surf/ocean awareness will be touched upon.  When the student has grasped all important safety information we will move on the the actual activity of surfing.  Instructors will demonstrate proper paddle and pop up (going from prone to standing on a board) techniques.  When the instructor feels the students has grasped all concepts during dryland, they will proceed to ocean training.

 During ocean training an instructor will accompany the student at all times.  The instructor will assist in the catching of  your first wave!   During this time you will learn how to catch a wave and stand on your board (depending on ability).   The instructor will remain in the water with the student for the duration of the lesson.  At the end of the lesson the instructor will give remarks and answer any questions, after which the sutdent is free to practice surfing for the remainder of the day (until closing time at KannonBeach, when gear must be returned)

• Keep Equipment for rest of the day after lesson
• Must supply own way to & from beach
• Surf lessons are based on instructor's best judgment

Rentals

Kannon Beach Rental Rates

• Wetsuits (including Boots and Gloves) - 3 hr = $15.00, 6 hr = $20.00
• Boots and Gloves - $10.00
• Body board - 3 hr = $10.00, 6 hr = $15.00
• Surfboard - 3 hr = $15.00, 6hr = $20.00
• Stand up PaddleBoard + Paddle - 6hr = $50.00

**Must be 16 or older to rent, or you must have consent with a signed waiver from a parent or guardian.**
